P·P·O·W is seeking an experienced, full-time Assistant to the Registrar.
Strong organizational and communication skills, a rigorous work ethic, and a healthy team mentality are key to success in this position.
Previous experience working in an art gallery, museum, or fine art shipper in preparation or storage management is mandatory. Basic art handling skills and knowledge of Art Logic are a plus.
This position will report to the Registrar and will work in concert with the preparatory team.
Responsibilities:
- Coordination of client shipping, sourcing quotes, billing clients, accepting payments and systematizing release of works with art handlers. Informed knowledge of invoicing, shipping regulations as regards sales tax, customs clearance and VAT is helpful
- Assist Registrar in organizing domestic and international shipments, and local trucking
- Assist in cataloguing new inventory and generating artwork records
- Maintain accurate status regarding consignments, availability, current locations, production costs, etc.
- Assist art handlers with condition reporting of incoming and outgoing works
- Coordinate framing for exhibitions and art fairs, ensuring accurate specifications and timely delivery
- Assist in development of network of trusted shippers
Hours: Tues-Sat, full time from 10AM-6PM
