$30/hour
Looking for someone working within the field of illustration/art to support an illustrator/artist in her early 30s as she focuses on her own illustration career. Will meet twice weekly, 10-12 hours a week to lead work sessions that guide the artist on a path towards developing good work habits and gaining traction in their chosen career. Ideally would have some knowledge of what an illustration practice looks like, while knowing that some sessions will be focused on actual drawing. Must be comfortable working with an LGBTQ+ individual with variable pronouns. Must have experience with neurodivergent and neurodiverse individuals and their needs, specifically those surrounding ADHD, anxiety, and the autistic spectrum. Must be comfortable with cats. Compensation is $30 an hour. 6 month minimum commitment with opportunity to stay on longer.
Job Responsibilities
Provide support to a creative and intelligent neurodiverse adult in terms of both coaching and mentoring. Must be able to meet weekly and consistently in person in Prospect Heights during the day. Tasks include: defining and practicing good work habits; using social media including Instagram and Twitter; utilizing an awareness of other media such as YouTube, illustration blogs, and other means of online publishing; aiding in searching for commissions and assisting in keeping website and other resources up to date; advising best practices in setting prices, exhibiting work, and interacting with the public; building organizational skills; helping to outline and share artist’s unique vision with the utmost integrity.
Qualifications
Someone with a few years of professional experience in illustration or the arts. Must have an interest in digital illustration and be willing to research alongside the artist to maximize creative potential, for example, strategizing to find character commissions. Must have patience and a positive attitude. Adaptability will be important as well as excellent organizational skills. Experience with neurodiverse individuals, especially those with ADHD and on the autistic spectrum is vital. Must have patience, imagination, and humor. Must be comfortable working with an LGBTQ+ individual with variable pronouns.
