About

The Interim General Manager will ensure that all financial and operational functions are in alignment with the Fisher Center’s and Bard College’s overarching mission and vision. This role is responsible for many aspects of the Fisher Center’s overall operation, including financial management, budgeting, administration and human resources. The Interim General Manager leads efforts to provide greater cohesion between the Fisher Center’s overall operations and artistic planning while maintaining strong working relationships with the Bard Controller’s Office, Human Resources Office, and academic departments to ensure effective management, coordination and communication.

This is a temporary, full-time, non-exempt position, compensated at a monthly rate of $5,500, salary negotiable. The position will be contracted for 3-4 months with possibility of extension.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

The Interim General Manager reports to the Fisher Center’s Executive Director and works closely with all members of the senior management team including; the Artistic Director, the Director of Artistic Planning and Producing, the Director Of Production, the Director of Institutional Advancement & Strategy, the Director of Marketing and Audience Services, and the Facilities Manager. This position has a close working relationship with the Executive Director of Bard Music Festival and SummerScape Opera Producer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Management:
-Manage annual budget with ED and department heads, monitor expense and revenue budget/ cash flow
-Oversee quarterly and fiscal year reconciliation with Bard’s general ledger
-Prepare P&L reports and accompanying narratives for board meetings, as needed
-Oversee A/P and A/R across all departments; manage payment priority across all departments and work with Bard Finance on check release schedule
-Assist in creation of budgets for grant proposals and final reports
-Oversee corporate card expense reconciliation

Administration & Human Resources:
-With the ED, develop consistent hiring procedures, performance review, and exit interview process across the Fisher Center and maintain equitable pay scales across departments
-Oversee on-boarding paperwork for casual hourly, seasonal, and full-time hires
-Coordinate building usage/ resources between academic programs, facilities management and Fisher Center professional programs
-With the ED, addressing personnel issues as they arise; liaising with Bard HR and Title IX offices as necessary
-Support departments with trouble-shooting employee paperwork/timesheet
-Contract Management/Rentals:
-Draft and maintain template agreements, amend as necessary, manage equity and consistency across programs
-With the ED, review contracts for non-artistic independent contractors; forward to Controller’s office as needed for contracts over 10K

QUALIFICATIONS

-Substantial, relevant experience in positions of progressive responsibility with organizations of similar scope and ambition.
-Experience managing budgets/forecasting
-Experience working with, managing, and providing feedback to people; ability to oversee the day-to-day operations while keeping larger institutional picture and priorities in mind
-Thrive in a deadline-driven environment
-Flexible, collaborative, and driven with a strong sense of personal integrity and accountability
-Possess strong communication skills, and bring a collaborative, positive, can-do approach
-Experience in the not-for-profit sector, working in the arts, a plus
-High proficiency in Google Suite, required
