Tribeca gallery seeks a part-time Preparator to work alongside our team of Directors.
Responsibilities include inventory, exhibition logistics, art handling and condition reporting. Candidates should be self-motivated and able to work independently. Must be detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
We are looking for a commitment of 2-3 days per week, Tues-Thurs and occasional weekends between exhibitions. Pay is commensurate with experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate the installation of all artworks for exhibitions, art fairs and on-site viewings
- Ensure proper packing, storage, transport and inventory of all incoming and outgoing artworks
- Maintain workshop and on-site storage including inventory of tools and packing materials
- Manage and oversee freelance art handlers
- Oversee the storage and condition of exhibition catalogs
QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience working in a gallery or adjacent position
- Knowledge of various packing techniques
- Ability to take initiative and prioritize multiple projects
- Attention to detail and precision, but also able to work independently and efficiently under pressure and occasional long days
- Proficiency with Google suite, Adobe and Photoshop
- Familiarity with galleryManager is a plus, but not required
- Light carpentry, painting skills and ability to re-stretch canvas are a plus, but not required
- Positive attitude with an ability to problem-solve
