Schmidt Artists International, Inc., an artist management representing the careers of internationally renowned classical musicians, is seeking a full-time Senior Administrator, to begin as soon as possible.
A boutique management, Schmidt Artists dedicates itself to bringing memorable performances to concertgoers around the world. The roster consists of approximately 25 artists: conductors, pianists, and string players, including internationally known artists such as violinist, Augustin Hadelich; pianist Martin Helmchen, violist Roberto Díaz, conductor Martin Fischer-Dieskau, and numerous others. Qualifications for the top administrator include the following:
1. An in-depth knowledge of music, both technically and historically
2. The long-term goal to be a professional music administrator
3. A resident of New York City (or northern NJ) and committed to being based in the NYC area for the foreseeable future
4. A thorough and fluent ability to work on either Mac or PC computers
5. A general computer savvy, including knowledge of Google Suite and MS Office – a basic graphic design capability would also be helpful
6. A proactive personality, including initiative, imagination, accuracy, and attention to detail
7. The ability to multi-task, prioritize and handle sensitive information in a discrete and professional manner
8. A spontaneous and flexible person, willing to take up new tasks or projects that might come up as time progresses
Basic Responsibilities:
1. Processing and servicing engagement contracts
2. Liaising between artists and presenters
3. Full responsibility for artist visas, from start to finish
4. Point of contact for handling communication of incoming phone calls
5. Designing and sending eblasts
6. Using and updating artist management software: Overture
7. Arranging travel for artists and managers
8. Assisting managers with various projects or tasks that may arise
Applicants for this position should have a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in music) and substantive administrative experience.
